In the coming year 2022, Festival Ljubljana will begin with the 5th Winter Festival, which will take place between 28 January and 5 February in the Philharmonic Hall, the Knights' Hall, Križanke and Cankarjev Dom. The programme will feature eight concerts with world famous musicians.

The opening of the 5th Winter Festival begins with three baroque masterpieces performed by renowned soloists and the Orchestra and Choir of the Slovenian Philharmonic led by the Flemish conductor Bart Van Reyn. Then between 30 January and 4 February there will be performances by the outstanding pianists Duo Schiavo-Marchegiani, János Balázs, Maria João Pires, Nicolas Bourdoncle and Nejc Kamplet with violinist Mario Andreeva. On 3 February the tenor Joseph Calleja will perform works by French composers as well as great lyric and verismo tenor roles, while on 5 February the RTV Slovenia Symphonic Orchestra, the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir and the Mixed Choir of Glasbena Matica Ljubljana, will perform Mozart’s Requiem, the great composer’s last important work, at the closing of the 5th Winter festival under the baton of Karel Mark Chichon.
