Mandorlo in Fiore - Almod Blossom Festival
The traditional event celebrates the arrival of spring marked by the blossoming of almond trees.
The initiative aims to enhance the artistic expressions that belong to the cultural tradition of the peoples and, in particular, those events that have been recognized by UNESCO as a "heritage of humanity".
In this way we intend to create an ideal link between the material heritage represented by the archaeological area of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, which was recognized by UNESCO in 1997 and which in 2015 was declared "of exceptional value for humanity", and the intangible heritage, in particular in relation to the expressions of the performing arts.
From 2017 the festival is organized by the Archaeological and Landscape Park of the Valley of the Temples in collaboration with the Municipality of Agrigento.
The 74th edition will be held from 1 to 10 March 2019 and will include 30 UNESCO intangible heritages, several groups of children from around the world, bands, more than a thousand guests, talks, events, educational workshops, exhibitions, concerts, cooking shows, parades , marches, traditional Sicilian folk dancers, shows for adults and children.
