Marvão Internacional Music Festival

The Marvão International Music Festival (FIMM) is a unique celebration of classical music set amidst the breathtaking natural and historical landscapes of the medieval town of Marvão, Portugal. Perched on a mountaintop, Marvão offers a stage like no other: open-air concerts against panoramic views, centuries-old churches transformed into intimate recital halls, and majestic venues such as the Roman Ruins of Ammaia and Castelo de Marvão.The 2026 edition will take place from 24 July to 2 August and will welcome around 15,000 visitors from across the globe. Over ten days, audiences will enjoy more than 40 concerts featuring internationally acclaimed orchestras, ensembles, and soloists, alongside promising young artists. The programme embraces a broad repertoire, from the great symphonic and chamber works to opera, choral music, and carefully curated contemporary creations, with a strong focus on artistic excellence and innovative programming.FIMM is distinguished by its inclusive spirit and outreach: around 25% of the events are offered free of charge, ensuring that the festival remains accessible to all. Educational projects, masterclasses, and community initiatives strengthen the connection between artists, audiences, and the local community, fostering cultural exchange and nurturing future generations of musicians.Beyond the music, the festival is a celebration of place. The carefully designed experiences combine performances with the unique atmosphere of Marvão and its surroundings: gastronomy, local wines, and the warm hospitality of the Alentejo and Extremadura regions.
