Miercurea Ciuc Early Music Festival
Approaching its 42nd edition, this year's Miercurea Ciuc Early Music Festival commemorates the musical giant Johann Sebastian Bach. From 5 to 13 July, a series of concerts, professional lectures and accompanying events will revive Bach's spirit, highlighting the great moments of his oeuvre. The biggest concert of the festival will be Bach's most popular vocal-symphonic work, the Mass in B minor, with the collaboration of instrumentalists and soloists from Romania, Hungary and Germany.
The festival will be accompanied by the 17th Early Music Summer University, from 5 to 11 July, with masterclasses where students can learn historical performance techniques and improve their musical skills under the guidance of leading teachers and renowned performers, and then present their skills to the public at the closing concert of the Summer University.
The festival is organised by the Cultural Center of Harghita County, the Harghita County Council, Cultura Nostra Association, and co-organised by the Municipality of Miercurea Ciuc.
