Mirabilia International Performing Arts Festival 2026
Mirabilia 2026 continues and expands a long-term artistic and territorial vision, positioning itself as one of the most articulated and dynamic performing arts festivals in Southern Europe. Conceived as both a travelling festival and an international showcase, Mirabilia 2026 unfolds across nine cities, combining a wide on-the-road programme with a five-day international showcase in Cuneo, the festival’s historical and symbolic core. With more than 200 performances and over 50 companies from Italy and abroad, Mirabilia 2026 offers an extensive and diverse panorama of contemporary circus, theatre, dance, site-specific and cross-disciplinary performing arts. The festival’s structure allows artistic works to encounter different urban, architectural, social and natural contexts, transforming cities, squares, parks, industrial sites and unconventional spaces into temporary stages and places of collective experience. The On the Road programme is conceived as a cultural itinerary that moves through multiple territories, creating a continuous dialogue between local communities and international artistic practices. Each host city becomes an active partner, contributing its own identity and landscape to the festival’s dramaturgy. This decentralised model strengthens audience development, fosters accessibility to contemporary creation, and reinforces the relationship between culture, tourism and local economies. At the heart of the project lies the five-day Showcase in Cuneo, designed as a meeting point for artists, programmers, curators, cultural professionals and international networks. The showcase combines public performances with professional activities, networking opportunities and moments of informal exchange, reaffirming Mirabilia’s role as a platform for visibility, circulation and internationalisation of contemporary performing arts.Mirabilia 2026 places strong emphasis on artistic research, hybrid languages and innovation, supporting works that challenge formats, spaces and traditional hierarchies between disciplines. Particular attention is given to projects that engage with public space, social contexts and environmental awareness, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to sustainability, inclusion and responsible cultural production. The festival also acts as a laboratory for new production and dissemination models, integrating artistic residencies, co-productions, training activities and audience engagement strategies. By connecting creation, presentation and professional development, Mirabilia 2026 supports artists throughout different phases of their work, while fostering long-term relationships with territories and international partners.Mirabilia’s identity is rooted in openness: openness to different audiences, generations and cultural backgrounds; openness to emerging and established artists; openness to experimentation and risk. In 2026, this openness translates into a large-scale yet coherent programme, capable of balancing artistic quality with accessibility, international ambition with strong local grounding.Through its articulated structure, geographic extension and international outlook, Mirabilia 2026 confirms itself not only as a festival, but as a cultural ecosystem: a moving constellation of performances, encounters and shared experiences that places people, places and artistic creation at its core.
