MUDRI BRK FESTIVAL
For the fourth year in a row, the Mudri Brk Festival will turn the Summer Cinema of Jelsa into the most admirable summer stage on the Adriatic and host numerous performers from Croatia. The festival features countless talented young names from Croatia, and this is an opportunity to present their quality work to a broader audience from the domains of indie, pop, rock, punk, reggae, rap, and jazz music. The festival will last four days and, in addition to the program in the Summer Cinema of Jelsa, will be spread over several locations in Jelsa. On Thursday, there will be a cinema screening of a music documentary and a collaboration with international artists from literature, dance, and visual arts. On Friday, there will be a music quiz and a small school of music journalism. There will be a DJ program during the day on the beach on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We want to repeat this year's competition as part of the European Festival Fund for Young Artists - EFFEA. In addition to great music, we want to provide all visitors with the opportunity to be educated about ecology, participate in ecological activities, and take care of ecology at the festival itself. Over two days on the beach, a flea market, DJs, ecological workshops for young people in cooperation with the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency, education in collaboration with the Croatian Scout Association, and forgotten games for young and old will be held.
1. Flea market On Friday and Saturday, there will be a Flea Market where wearable quality goods in the closet can be exchanged, thus reducing the purchase of new things and the accumulation of additional textiles. All goods that are not exchanged will be disposed of as textile waste.
2. Ecological workshops Two ecological workshops for young people will be held in cooperation with the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund.
1. Education in cooperation with the Association of Croatian Scouts on water protection and preservation of biodiversity and the environment, coping in nature, and presentation of the Boranka campaign, the most extensive volunteer reforestation of burned areas in Croatia.
2. Ecology workshops for children, namely waste separation and recycling, an educational and research game Treasure Hunt (getting to know materials in nature) and an ecological quiz with the application of learned knowledge. Also, to reduce children's and adults' staring at screens during the day, we will remember games from our youth, some of which are still relevant and some forgotten.
3. Eco action of cleaning the illegal landfill. Unfortunately, one hill above Jelsa became an unlawful landfill, and the organisation cleaned only one part of that landfill this year. Car tyres, armature, industrial equipment, wood, barrels, and thrown electrical and mixed waste were collected. The destruction was selected and separated on the spot, and the removal of the collected rubbish was arranged with the help of TZ Jelsa.
4. Environmental care in the organisation of the festival itself. The idea of the festival is to reduce the amount of garbage and pollution to a minimum and promote the possibility of recycling. To achieve these results, several elements were implemented to draw attention to this topic, such as: Waste. We set up recycling stations so that waste could be separated selectively at the festival itself. Six islands were set up to separate garbage, facilitating recycling and removal. To reduce unnecessary waste, we poured drinks only into cardboard cups and did not use straws. We also ensured that water was free for all visitors. Transport Emissions during transport are one of the most significant air pollutants. All the bands agreed that no one would come to the island with a motor vehicle, but they would be met on the island by transport organised by us. Also, as part of the organisation of the festival, they used bicycles and electric scooters as a means of transportation on the island on paved roads, and considering the location of the Summer Cinema in the very centre, the use of any means of transport was reduced to a minimum. Transportation to other sites was arranged using the mentioned transport (van).Energy. Although our guiding idea is to reduce the energy consumption related to the festival, some elements, such as the sound system and lighting of the performers, are necessary. However, we were able to influence factors such as the location's lighting, so we used solar bulbs for the site's lighting.
The organisers are Mudri Brk and the Association for the Promotion of Culture "Jelsa"; the main sponsors are TZO Jelsa and the Municipality of Jelsa, with financial support from the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, Split-Dalmatia County, EFFE, the Fund for Protection and Energy Efficiency and other sponsors.
