Muze van Zuid September 16-20th 2026 (9th edition)
September 16 to 20, Muze van Zuid transforms Amsterdam Zuid's streets, squares, parks and private homes into a vibrant stage for top musicians. Walk along elegant streets while our storytellers tell you hidden histories about the most musical district of Amsterdam. Enjoy classical music, jazz and world music in unique houses and monuments which you would otherwise never get the chance to visit.Highlights of the 9th Edition of Muze van Zuid Some highlights include the ensemble l’Anice's innovative concert that goes beyond the framework of early music, exploring new sounds and possibilities for the combination of historical harp and harpsichord. Starting from medieval and baroque compositions around the harp, in which the enigma plays an important role: only the knowledgeable could solve it and enjoy the music. Raising a question on the accessibility of music, which was thus meant for a small circle of people, the ensemble explores not only new ways of addressing this timeless topic through contemporary composition, but also new strategies to communicate with the audience of today, bridging the gap between (apparently) inaccessible music practices and the enjoyment of music for everybody. Ensemble Camerata Trajectina will highlight the typical dutch tradition of 'huismuziek' giving the public a glimpse of what the so called 'Collegia Musica' had to offer mid-17th century; music societies where the wealthy bourgeoisie (read: rich enough to learn to play an instrument) came together to make music. It was a serious business: those who did not show up could expect a fine. Every self-respecting city had such a city music college. The great organist and composer Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck was conducting an important one in Amsterdam. Making room for concerts in district-Zuid In 2026, Muze van Zuid will showcase the beautiful architecture of Berlage in Rivierenbuurt, organising walks and concerts in hidden gems and intimate venues this part of Amsterdam-Zuid has to offer. For the very first time the festival will host rooftop-concerts in skyscrapers at Zuidas that will give one great views on the Berlage area. People of all generations and backgrounds will come together in a celebration of cultural heritage in all kinds of spaces in Zuid.Come and experience Muze van Zuid – where streets resonate and composers come to life in the Concertgebouw neighborhood, De Pijp, Beatrixpark, Zuidas, the area around the Roelof Hartplein, Olympiaplein, and Vondelpark: 5 days of celebration!
