MUZIKA MUZIKA is a prestigious platform to promote, sustain and celebrate the Maltese language within the reign of score and song. The festival engulfs all forms of song styles from ballads to folk to pop. This song festival was lost in time due to various logistical and financial restrictions - and having reappeared thanks to the massive public success is proof of its importance and radical existence. The Maltese language, spoken only within Europe by some 450,000 inhabitants, needs such a festival - it is a language so rare and so profoundly historical (as it merges the Semitic with the Romantic), that it certainly and without absolute certainty calls for protection, and appreciation. Three nights of excessive spectacle in an immense space, performed to a live audience but also transmitted live on national television, Muzika Muzika is proof that languages within the format of festival entertainment is sine qua non to all that is heritage, legacy, and history.
