Pancyprian School Theatre Games

A festival with highschool theatre performances, all over the island of Cyprus, organized by Cyprus Theatre Organisation in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture, this year celebrating its thirtieth anniversary!

Today, more than sixty-five schools across the island participate in the Games, with performances of contemporary theatre and ancient drama chosen by the school theatre teams and their teachers. Schools compete in separate regions, due to the large number, with committees of experts travelling and watching every performance, providing educational comments afterwards in a written review sheet.

Contemporary Theatre:

The Games are held in four regions today: Lefkosia, Larnaka-Free Ammochostos, Lemesos and Pafos. A separate Committee of experts is set up for each of the three regions. Each committee decides on awards for the best three Gymnasium Performances and three Best Lyceum Performances.

Αncient Drama:

The Judging Committee attends all performances in all regions and decides for the Best Gymnasium Performance Award and Best Lyceum Performance Award.

Workshops and meetings are held for students and teachers. Cyprus Theatre Organisation offers to each participant a Card offering them free entrance for a year's performances at THOC and the Cyprus Theatre Museum offers free entrance to all participants for a year, both to provoke and support theatre awareness and education.
