Prague Quiet Music Festival

22 Jun 2024

The Prague Quiet Music Festival (organised by the Prague Quiet Music Collective) is a yearly festival involving music, workshops, meditation, tea ceremonies. This year's edition introduces as principal guests the Oslo-based ensemble asamisimasa. The centrepiece will be a new extended piece for both ensembles composed by quiet music legend Jürg Frey (Switzerland), as well as new pieces by Oslo-based composers Magdaléna Manderlová, Luis Fernando Amaya and Ferdinand Schwarz, and a new piece for asamisimasa by PQMC artistic director, Ian Mikyska.

The first edition of the festival featured principal guests Miroslav Beinhauer (on sixth-tone harmonium) and Fredrik Rasten (electric guitars). The following year, we welcomed Austrian composer Klaus Lang for a new piece and a solo organ recital. In 2023, the main guest was Jürg Frey, who wrote a new 40-minute work for the ensemble and performed a solo recital too.
