The Kyiv International Puppet Theater Festival «pUPpet» brings together residents and guests of the city of Kiev of different age groups around the art of puppet theater, attracts the population to the culture of the puppet theater by providing free viewing experience of performances on open air grounds, as well as visiting the performances of foreign collectives, introduces guests to the history and culture of the city of Kiev. The "pUPpet" Festival also matches the celebration of the anniversary of the Theater and entertainment institution of culture "Kiev Academic Puppet Theater" - one of the oldest professional puppet theatres of the country and a leading unit of contemporary national art of puppets.

The organizer of the "pUPpet" Festival is the Theater and entertainment institution of culture "Kiev Academic Puppet Theater".

The purpose of the "pUPpet" Festival is the association of residents of Kiev and guests of the city of different ages around the domestic and foreign art of the puppet theater.

The goals of the pUPpet festival:

1. Popularization of the art of puppet theater among different age groups of the population (children, youth, adults).

2. An acquaintance of Kyiv residents and guests of the capital with the history and culture of Kiev.

3. Demonstration of the best creative achievements and achievements of the Theater and entertainment institution of culture "Kiev Academic Puppet Theater" during its existence.

4. Presentation of samples of the best performances of foreign puppet masters (directors, stage designers, actors, playwrights) who are participants of the "pUPpet" Festival to the residents and guests of the city.

5. Strengthening friendly and cultural relationships between the city of Kyiv and other cities.

6. Distribution of information on the history and culture of the capital of Ukraine among representatives of foreign collectives.

7. Support of the European integration process.

8. Support and encouragement of gifted children’s and young people’s interest in the art of puppet theater of Kyiv, revealing their creative potential.

9. Aesthetic and morally aesthetic education of the younger generation of the capital with means of expressiveness of theatrical art.

10. Revelation of creative potential of young specialists in the field of art of puppet theater (actors, directors, playwrights, scenographers, composers) for the creation of a "data bank of young promising specialists of the Ukrainian scene".

11. Establishing creative contacts between domestic and foreign puppet theaters for further creative cooperation.

12. Exchange of artistic experience between Ukrainian and foreign puppet specialists.

Social component of the "pUPpet" Festival:

providing free viewing experience of performances on open air grounds to the residents and guests of the city of Kiev free of charge

The "pUPpet" Festival is held every year. The duration and date period of the festival is determined by the Theater and entertainment Institute of Culture "Kyiv Academic Puppet Theater" each year.

Places where the "pUPpet" Festival is being held:

1. At the Theater and entertainment institution of culture "Kiev Academic Puppet Theater".

2. In bodies of state power, bodies of local self-government on their proposals and with their consent.

3. In enterprises, establishments, organizations of different forms of ownership on their proposals and with their consent.

4. At the locations and on the open air grounds on their proposals and with the consent of their owners.

During the festival a festive procession dedicated to the "pUPpet" Festival is being held. Participants of the festival, residents and guests of the city participate in it. The Holiday Route is determined each year.

In the framework of the "pUPpet" Festival, cultural, artistic and educational events can take place:

- master classes, workshops on acting, plastics, stage performances, scenography and the making of theater puppets;

- holding a meeting of curators of puppet schools for the purpose of exchange of professional experience;

- realization of the special social rehabilitation project "Capital Theater - the Theater of Equal Opportunities" for children of certain categories with elements of inclusive education; and other.

Creative program of the "pUPpet" Festival consists of performances of puppet theaters from Ukraine and foreign countries, as well as student diploma works of domestic and foreign theater schools.

The organizer will announce a set of participants (puppet theaters) in advance. Potential participants apply to the Organizer. The organizer selects the participants.

The "pUPpet" Festival has a competitive basis. The organizer makes a competitive program of performances.

The Organizer creates a Jury, defines the composition and number of Jury members.

After reviewing the competitive entries, the Jury defines winners in the nominations by voting:

- Best Direction

- Best scenography

- Best musical design

- Best actor's work (three equivalent nominations)

- Grand Prix of the Festival (show for children and adult performances)

- Special nomination (provided by joint decision of the Jury).

Awards and announcement of the winners take place at the official closing of the "pUPpet" Festival.

Aspects planned to provide for the "pUPpet" Festival:

- means of travel of the members of the Jury to Kyiv and in the opposite direction;

- accommodation and meals for participants, members of the Jury and honorary guests, as well as transport services;

- production of souvenirs, purchase of flowers, decorative elements and floristics;

- information and advertising services;

- rent of technical equipment;

- Rental of stage sites for showing performances at open air locations;
