Septembre Musical de l'Orne

This page contains information about a past festival edition. View the latest edition here.

L’Orne’s September Music Festival which was created in 1982 by its current president Philippe Toussaint aims at promoting culturel events in the department of l’Orne, through a yearly festival of classical music.

From a few concerts of chamber music, essentially in Le Pays d’Auge at the start, the festival has become one of the main cultural events in Normandy over the years and is now recognized in its neighbouring regions. With its varied high-quality programme, the festival has taken up the double challenge of increasing the number of concerts by welcoming new cities and also of varying its musical contents with world music, jazz , dance.

Meanwhile, the festival has worked closely with a few organizations, among which The Department’s Committee of Tourism so as to combine music and heritage. Guided visits organized alongside concerts enable festival participants to discover or see the Region’s unusual sites again , which are sometimes open specially for the occasion and commented by passionate people.

In the same way, educational projects are carried out around the festival with the organization of masterclass and actions enabling the youngest ones to discover music, in partnership with L’Orne’s school inspectorate and Alençon’s departmental Conservatoire .
