SONA AMER 2026

11 Jan 2026 - 22 Mar 2026
Amer, Spain

Sona Amer Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2026, consolidating itself as one of the most beloved and dynamic cultural events in the Girona region of Catalonia (Spain). Over the past decade, it has transformed the small rural town of Amer into a vibrant stage for musical excellence, community engagement, and European cultural exchange. Each edition of the festival offers a carefully curated programme that combines legendary artists, emerging voices, and new musical styles, creating an intergenerational and inclusive dialogue through live music. Hosted at Teatre El Casal d’Amer, a historic theatre in the heart of the town, Sona Amer is both intimate and powerful — a space where audiences experience high-level performances in a warm, human-scale environment. The 2026 edition celebrates a decade of growth with an exceptional lineup:Los Manolos, icons of Catalan rumba who performed at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.Los Sirex, pioneers of Spanish rock & roll since the 1960s, who once shared the stage with The Beatles. The internationally acclaimed Sant Andreu Jazz Band, directed by Joan Chamorro, celebrating 20 years of transforming music education.Borja Penalba & Vicent Colonques, presenting Giròvag, an intimate and poetic journey blending Mediterranean roots, jazz, and contemporary songwriting.Sheryl Youngblood, Gospel Grammy Award winner from Chicago, bringing an exclusive blues concert to Catalonia with Tota Blues & José Luis Pardo. And for the Grand Closing, Lucrecia, Grammy and Latin Grammy winner, premieres her new show Lucrecia 30 años, celebrating three decades of career and her recent Academy Award nomination for Best Original Soundtrack.Beyond the concerts, Sona Amer fosters a transformative cultural experience:It connects local and international audiences, attracting visitors from different parts of Catalonia and abroad. It promotes sustainability through the use of local resources, rural venues, and environmentally conscious production methods. It embodies social inclusion, collaborating with associations that work with people with disabilities and those at risk of exclusion, ensuring access to culture for all.It acts as a platform for emerging artists linked to Erasmus+ and Creative Europe projects, enhancing mobility and intercultural dialogue. The festival’s identity is rooted in its rural context, proving that small communities can host world-class cultural events while preserving authenticity and proximity. Over ten years, Sona Amer has become a symbol of local pride and European connection, where music serves as a bridge between generations, cultures, and creative disciplines.Looking forward, Sona Amer aims to deepen its European collaboration by developing artist residencies, mentoring programmes, and co-productions that link rural and urban creative ecosystems. By combining tradition and innovation, the festival seeks to inspire similar communities across Europe, showing that culture can be a powerful tool for social transformation, sustainability, and shared joy.
