Split Calling

Split calling festival has a special energy that is created by friction between historical heritage and contemporary performance art. Like the core values of the city of Split itself, they co-exist and complement each other. Considering the many identities the city has acquired over time, is it possible to add another identity to the city on an artistic level?

Contemporary circus is often combined and mixed with other disciplines, media and expressions from the other art disciplines. Interdisciplinary, experimental, participatory and a counterweight to mainstream culture - these are the catchphrases of the festival with a special emphasis on artistic ideas whose backbone is the outdoor performance space.

The festival will be held in public spaces in the city centre of Split, places that in the recent period have disappeared from the mental maps and everyday life of local residents. The city centre has ceased to be a place for long-term stay and has become a place for short-term and occasional stay. the idea of the festival is to enrich the space of the city. The program of the festival is a tool to bring new qualities and layers to the existing identities of the city spaces.
