Street Book doubles up: on the 4th and 5th of August, two new evenings for the Dolianova Literary Festival

At Villa de Villa, books are still being discussed in perfect Street Books style: presentations, music, and entertainment. From Anja Boato to Anna Maria Gehnyei, from Marco Bova to Alessandro Mari, many important authors will take turns on stage and online to address highly topical themes, all skillfully orchestrated by the host Gerardo Ferrara, accompanied by Aresti.

The two evenings in July were not enough to cover an engaging theme like the one chosen for the Street Books 2023 literary festival, the 8th edition. "Life Stories in Transit" will still be the theme that characterises the two new evenings at Villa de Villa, on Friday, 4th of August, and Thursday, 5th of August. The gates of the beautiful historic building in Dolianova will open at 8:30 PM.

Two evenings animated by the talent of young and promising writers and established authors. Anna Maria Gehnyei will open the first evening on Friday, 4th of August, with her "Il Corpo nero" ("The Black Body"), which tells the universe of young Italians of the "second generation." Following that, Luca Giachi will present "Senza disturbare nessuno" ("Without Disturbing Anyone"). Michelangelo Iossa will then take the stage to recount the biography of Rino Gaetano in "Sotto un cielo sempre più blu" ("Under an Ever-Bluer Sky"). The evening's on-stage presentations will conclude with Marco Bova presenting "Matteo Messina Denaro - Latitante di stato" ("Matteo Messina Denaro - State Fugitive") about the behind-the-scenes of the capture of the dangerous fugitive. But the evening doesn't end here; there will also be online connections with Anja Boato with her debut novel "Madama Matrioska" ("Madam Matryoshka"), already a success, and Anna Rakhmanko and Mikkel Sommer with their "Hinterhof - la mia vita da mistress" ("Hinterhof - My Life as a Mistress") co-written by both authors.

The same mixed formula of on-stage and online presentations will also take place on Saturday, 5th of August, with "Fotomodella" ("Photomodel"), the novel by Elisabetta Valentini, followed by the presentation of Leonardo Palmisano's book "Il tradimento è delitto" ("Betrayal Is a Crime"). Anna Maria Puricella will take the stage to talk about her first novel, "Monteruga," and after her, Silvia Gioffreda will present her "Un orgasmo alla volta" ("One Orgasm at a Time"). The closing evening also includes three online presentations: "Il Dio dello stretto" ("The God of the Strait") by Vins Gallico, "In principio era la bestia" ("In the Beginning, There Was the Beast") by Omar di Monolpoli, and "Qualcosa resta" ("Something Remains") by Alessandro Mari.

A wide selection, therefore, of presentations that will help enthusiasts and the curious to choose their next readings. As Festival lovers know well, the evenings include many moments of entertainment, such as musical interludes curated by Francesco Moreno & Dedalo, creative scribbles by Nervosino and Aresti. And, of course, there will be the Chiringuito at Villa de Villa with delicious dishes, local products, wine, and beers. The hosts Gerardo Ferrara and Aresti, with their brilliant hosting, will make these two new evenings of the Street Books festival in 2023 even more enjoyable and fun.

This year, the event, recognised as a member of the Global Association of Literary Festivals and the European Festivals Association (EFA), has been awarded the "EFFE Label 2022-2023." "We are very happy," said Alessio Rubiu, president of the Miele Amaro Association, "to offer two more evenings to our audience. There were still many valid and interesting works to present, and as always, we will do it in our style." The Street Books 2023 Festival is organised by the Miele Amaro Association with the support of the Municipality of Dolianova and the Region of Sardinia.
