Founded in 2013, the Syros International Film Festival embeds a wide spectrum of cinema into the unique setting of Syros. A week of screenings, workshops, performances, lectures and parties highlights the island’s cultural heritage, re-activating sites including shipyards, abandoned fields, a former quarry and a seaside dock. The festival’s thematic curatorial approach incorporates various cinematic genres into programs – fiction, documentary, experimental, narrative – exposing audiences to new types of cinema in accessible, site-specific programs.
