Every summer the tiny village of Katydata wakes up to the sound of winds! That’s when world music traditions and jazz, topped with some contemporary sounds, meet up at Windcraft Music Fest for a three-day music fiesta, in which the winds have the leading role; where tradition and modernity co-exist; where you can listen to good music, dance, play, laugh and feel good cheer everywhere!

Windcraft Μusic Fest has been organised by the non-profit cultural association Windcraft Loud since 2014 in the village of Katydata (Nicosia region, Cyprus). It aims to showcase the musical work of local and international artists and in involving all visitors in the process of music creation through interaction. The festival focuses specifically on wind instruments and wind players, which are featured in different music styles and combinations.

In unique traditional settings of the Cypriot countryside, such as the yard of an old inn, an orchard, or picturesque village squares, local and international artists and bands present their original music projects, influenced by world music traditions. Workshops, walks and other parallel activities invite participants of all ages to take part in the process of music creation and explore the village and its culture through a community-building process.

The 9th edition of Windcraft Music Fest will take place between 22-23 July 2023 and it will include concerts, workshops for children and adults, parallel activities and a six-day artists' residency.

The line-up of Windcraft Music Fest 9 focuses on the collaboration between local and foreign artists, presenting both established groups and new collaborations involving Cypriot artists. Eight handpicked Cypriot and international bands featuring wind players which combine jazz with world music, often enriching it with electronic sounds and beats, will be transforming the Orchard into a music stage for dreamy listening and frantic dancing, while the village streets will be filled with the sounds of wind and vocal ensembles. In addition to the concerts, the festival will include a rich parallel programme of musical and artistic workshops for children and adults, interactive walks around the village and other activities with free admission! Windcraft Music Fest 9 will also host the artistic residency "People of the Wind: Bridging the Sounds of East and West" (18-23 July 2023), with the participation of the group People of the Wind, delegates from two other European festivals and selected Cypriot artists. The programme is supported by the European Festivals Fund for Emerging Artists – EFFEA and co-funded by the European Union.
