WOMEX is both a professional conference and trade fair for the world music scene and a five-day showcase festival celebrating diversity and creativity with films, global music acts, opening and award ceremonies. It has toured Europe since 1994; around 2,500 delegates and 300 artists come from over 90 countries to a different European city to join thousands of local people. According to the UNESCO, WOMEX "contributes to networking as an effective means of promoting music and culture".
