X International Festival of Choral Spiritual Music “Music Edict” in Nis

The festival has a biennial character, and always begins on Pentecost – the feast of the Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, which is celebrated as a holiday by the Niš Cathedral Church.The organizers of the festival are: the Orthodox Diocese of Niš, the Cathedral Church in Niš, and the Niš Church Choir “Branko”. It was at the initiative of the Choir “Branko” that the festival was founded in 2009, which to this day affirms choral spiritual music and encourages cultural dialogue between nations.The festival has so far hosted almost a hundred different ensembles from all over the world, building friendships, a wider audience and new bridges between cultures. The uniqueness of the Musical Edict is its openness to all Christian denominations, as the festival’s message is based on the spirit of the Edict of Milan – “Let everything that breathes praise the Lord”.The Musical Edict in Niš is not just a musical event, but a spiritual and cultural holiday, which makes the city live in a sign of unity, prayer and art.
