Amarante Early Music Festival
The Amarante Early Music Festival (FMAA), organised by the Maria Amélia Laranjeira Cultural Centre in Amarante, is back for its 4th edition. Taking place between 8 and 22 November, it aims to renew the objectives set since the first edition: presenting international performers, featuring Portuguese musicians, and promoting the historical monuments of the municipality and region through music. With this in mind, it promotes the cultural heritage of the territories, with each concert being an opportunity for the public to discover the architectural richness of the churches and venues that host these events. In the city of Amarante, we highlight the Solar dos Magalhães, an 18th-century building that is emblematic of the city, the Church of Misericórdia de Amarante, and the Amarante Cultural Centre. The 2025 edition features four concerts with diverse characteristics and repertoires, ranging from the 16th to the 18th century, using period instruments and vocals, celebrating an artistic and cultural heritage with unique characteristics. We also present a space for reflection and debate around research, with a lecture dedicated to the theme – CHALLENGES AND PERSPECTIVES OF EARLY MUSIC IN THE 21ST CENTURY.
