‘BôFest - Music & Immersive Experiences in Nature 2026
BÔFest 2026 – Music & Immersive Experiences in NatureBorn from the evolution of Festival Circ’Bô, BÔFest 2026 opens a new chapter in the encounter between art, nature, and community in the heart of Trás-os-Montes. Launched in 2023, the original festival sought to revive the spirit of “Circo vai às Aldeias” – a tradition of itinerant art deeply rooted in Portugal’s rural identity. What began as a celebration of contemporary circus has evolved into a movement of cultural and social regeneration, transforming the small village of Vilares da Vilariça into a living stage. After two successful editions (2024 and 2025), the festival takes a bold step forward. The 2026 edition, titled BÔFest – Music & Immersive Experiences in Nature, expands its scope and ambition, blending electronic music, immersive art, and territorial experience into a multidimensional celebration. Its aim is to connect the global and the local, amplifying reach while preserving its artistic DNA and community-centered spirit. At its core, BÔFest stays true to its founding mission: to promote artistic diversity, social cohesion, and rural vitality. Yet it embraces a new creative language bridging tradition and innovation. Electronic music becomes the festival’s unifying force — not replacing its roots, but acting as a universal language that transcends borders, inviting diverse audiences to discover a landscape where sound, nature, and emotion converge. The name BÔFest preserves the soul of its origin. The word “Bô” — from the local dialect — carries the warmth and authenticity of the Trás-os-Montes spirit. The apostrophe before it remains a symbol of continuity: the festival grows and transforms, but its roots stay grounded in the community that gave it life. From August 7th to 11th, 2026, Vilares da Vilariça will once again become a creative epicenter — a valley of mountains, light, and sound — coinciding with the height of summer festivities and the return of emigrant families. Expanded from three to five days, the festival invites participants to immerse in the rhythm of the land, staying longer, engaging deeper, and joining the village celebration on August 14th.The 2026 edition unfolds through three main axes, expressing the festival’s multidimensional identity:
1. BÔ’Vibe – Electronic Music: The Driving ForceThe core of transformation. On a stage set against the stunning Vilariça Valley, national and international artists explore electronic music as ritual and transcendence — a sonic journey uniting people under the stars, blending natural beauty and contemporary culture.2. BÔ’Xperiences – Immersive Experiences: The Heart of the FestivalBeyond music, BÔFest offers a constellation of artistic, sensory, and participatory experiences. From rural art and gastronomy to wellness, visual arts, and performances, visitors reconnect with nature and community. Family and children’s programs ensure inclusivity and intergenerational dialogue.3. BÔ’Land – The Village: Stage and SoulThe village is not merely the venue — it is the protagonist. Each edition leaves a lasting legacy: new infrastructures, creative collaborations, and social connections that outlive the festival. Through this, BÔFest strengthens the local economy, nurtures identity, and transforms Portugal’s interior into a creative frontier.More than a festival, BÔFest 2026 is a catalyst for transformation. It redefines cultural tourism in rural territories, combining authenticity with innovation, intimacy with international vision. It celebrates the beauty of slowness, the power of collective creation, and the dialogue between body, spirit, and landscape. Here, mountains become soundscapes, fields become galleries, and the community becomes the heartbeat of an experience that unites tradition and futurism — a celebration where the identity of Trás-os-Montes proudly reaches the world.
