Book World Prague 2024 | 29th International Book Fair and Literary Festival

The International Book Fair and Literary Festival Book World Prague has already celebrated 28 successful editions and, thanks to its long-standing tradition, has become the most important and most extensive literary and cultural event in the Czech Republic. It helps promote Czech book culture and literary scene and has an important international reach thanks to inviting foreign authors, book industry representatives and cultural professionals.

For the 29th edition in 2024, the long-term program "Das Buch" – traditional project connecting Germany, Austria and Switzerland - was chosen as a Guest of Honor. Under this topic the festival will present a wealth of contemporary German-language literature across genres such as fiction, comics, children's literature, philosophy, etc. The common goal will be to cover current themes that reflect the state of society, achievements and tendencies of German-language literature, as well as themes that reflect the specific ties of the Czech Republic to its neighbor countries.

Reflecting Kafka's anniversary in 2024, the motto of the festival is Kafka's quote: “A BOOK MUST BE THE AXE FOR THE FROZEN SEA WITHIN US”.
