CULTURAL STREET FESTIVAL / KULTURAN ULIČNI FESTIVAL
Cultural Street Festival (shortly: KUF) is imagined as a festival that delivers Art to city neighbourhoods where it is less represented or almost unavailable. The goal is to spread street art into the public spaces outside the city centre, bring quality performances to the people who live in marginal quarters of the City of Zagreb and create new performing spaces for local artists. Since 2020, the Cultural Street Festival has travelled to Sisak, a small town near Zagreb, where the programme will be presented during the last week of August. KUF is environmentally conscious and comes to the neighbourhood with one vehicle, its grandstands, sound system and battery-powered lights, and leaves no waste behind. At KUF, you can only consume culture and art intended for all generations and preferences.
KUF in Zagreb takes place every weekend in September, bringing 16 different performances, workshops, street music and exhibitions to 4 different neighbourhoods.
To support the development of street performance art in Croatia, KUF offers production support for artists for the premiere of a show created for the street stage and will have its premiere at KUF. Through a public call, we select two projects for support and will be presented as KUF premiers. Also, starting in 2023, we include a children's jury - drama school Doza Drame, which will choose the best show of a particular neighbourhood and the best show of the Festival. The same year we started a collaboration with the comics collective Komikaze, who will hold an exhibition and a badge-making workshop in one of the neighbourhoods - Beđomat.
