Découvertes, Images et MarionnettesThe Découvertes, Images et Marionnettes festival is a leading biennale in French-speaking Belgium dedicated to the contemporary practices of puppetry and associated arts.Each edition offers a rich and bold selection: over thirty different shows are presented, with performances both indoors and in the street, for all audiences.The programme is a genuine panorama of the diversity of forms, practices, and disciplines in contemporary European creation. The festival serves as a laboratory, highlighting new and innovative forms at the crossroads of different arts and practices.Découvertes, Images et Marionnettes is both a platform for established artists to affirm their work and a vital place for discovering emerging artists.Since its first edition, the festival has hosted the biggest names and helped shape the landscape of contemporary puppetry:Key companies from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation: Compagnie Point Zéro, Tof Théâtre, Entre chiens et loups, Théâtre des 4 Mains, les Royales Marionnettes, Théâtre du N-Ombr’île, Cie Tchaïka...Internationally renowned artists: Neville Tranter, Ilka Schönbein, Duda Paiva, Frank Soehnle, Ulrike Quade, Yeung Faï, Michel Laubu...Companies and artists from around the world: Vietnam, Portugal, Ukraine, Hungary, Iran, Finland, Italy, Chile, Taiwan, Great Britain, Spain, Austria, Bulgaria...The festival has consistently revealed young artists who have subsequently made their mark on the largest international stages.The festival is a joint initiative of the Centre de la Marionnette de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles (Puppetry Centre), the Créa-Théâtre, and the Musée des arts de la Marionnette (Museum of Puppetry Arts).
