EDEM - Art in the Living Landscape 2027
EDEM - Art in the Living Landscape is an interdisciplinary arts festival held at BIOPOLIS in the Ukrainian Carpathians. It brings contemporary artistic practice directly into a living rural landscape, where forest, water, meadows, sound and natural materials become part of the creative process. The festival brings together emerging artists, musicians, performers and interdisciplinary creators from Ukraine and other European countries. Its programme includes land art, site-specific installations, live and acoustic music, performance, sound art, photography, visual storytelling and creative work with natural and found materials.
EDEM is built around temporary, low-impact artistic interventions rather than conventional exhibition formats. Artists are invited to respond to place, ecology, local culture and the relationship between people and landscape. Public encounters, collaborative works, performances and informal exchanges connect artists with visitors, local communities and one another. The festival is developed by IBSDF at BIOPOLIS together with YUA - Young Ukrainian Artists. EDEM also serves as a platform for international artistic exchange and for new collaborations between Ukrainian and European creators and festivals. EDEM 2027 will take place from 21 to 27 June 2027 as part of the wider BIOFEST week at BIOPOLIS.
