Villaggio Monte Faito , Italy

QUALITY AND RELEVANCE OF THE CULTURAL PROGRAMME

Every year, Faito Doc Festival presents a high-quality programme dedicated to auteur documentary and new forms of storytelling about reality. Through diverse languages, aesthetics and geographical perspectives, it offers original views on the transformations of our time. The 2026 edition focuses on “Community”, inviting filmmakers and audiences to reflect on relationships between individuals, cultures, territories and the environment, in a context marked by misinformation, conflict and fragile social ties. Cinema, art and dialogue become tools for connection, imagination and critical thinking. The programme results from international research and curatorial work by eight selectors, who viewed hundreds of works from over 20 countries. More than 50 documentaries, features and shorts were selected for their cinematic quality, narrative strength and thematic relevance. The films address major social, cultural and environmental issues and create opportunities for exchange between filmmakers, audiences and professionals.

TRAINING AND NEW TALENT

The Festival combines its film programme with a strong educational dimension. Faito Doc Pitching – “Wings for Creation”, organised with SABAM, SCAM and ZaLab and supported by SIAE, supports six selected filmmakers through seven days of intensive training and professional mentoring. The programme also includes DOC NOW!, encounters with international filmmakers; DOCS FOR KIDS; a Film Editing Masterclass with Rudi Maerten; Faito Giovani, a poetry and yoga workshop; a paper-mâché workshop with the Il Camino therapeutic and rehabilitation centre; and yoga and meditation sessions. The Faito Doc Camp offers young participants opportunities to collaborate on set design, interviews and podcasts.

SIDE EVENTS AND PARTICIPATION

The Festival connects cinema, art, nature and participation through land-art installations; sculpture, photography, painting and drawing exhibitions; encounters with organisations such as SOS Méditerranée and the Social Carnivals of Naples; concerts and murga performances; and a naturalistic, artistic and performative walk through Monte Faito. JURIES AND AWARDS: Five international, youth and popular juries bring together professionals, young people, Il Camino residents and Faito Doc Camp participants. Alongside the Faggio Doc Awards, the Festival presents the Ottica Sacco Award, the Diamantis Award and the Audience Award.

 IMPACT ON THE TERRITORY

Faito Doc Festival combines culture, social innovation and territorial development. The landscape, local community and associations are actively involved in the creative and organisational process, contributing to community cohesion, cultural identity and participatory citizenship. Now reaching its 19th edition, the Festival has developed a strong network of volunteers, artists, filmmakers, students and associations. Workshops, screenings and artistic activities involve local communities, schools and academies, transforming Monte Faito into a space for cultural production, artistic education and social participation.

CULTURAL, SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

The Festival brings international auteur cinema to Monte Faito while highlighting its natural, environmental and cultural heritage. It promotes documentary cinema as a tool for reflection and intercultural dialogue, connects the local community with international guests, and supports the sustainable promotion of Vico Equense and Monte Faito. The collaboration with the Il Camino Therapeutic Centre is a key part of the project, while juries, workshops and creative activities foster inclusion and social reintegration. Partnerships with film schools and academies, alongside young volunteers, trainees and students, develop creative skills, civic awareness and environmental consciousness. Faito Doc Festival is a cultural and social laboratory fostering inclusion and dialogue.
