FOG Festival 2025
FOG – Festival offener Genres (3rd Edition – 2025)October 2–4, 2025 | Kaserne Areal, Basel (CH)FOG Festival returns in 2025 for its third edition as one of Switzerland’s most innovative platforms for experimental and contemporary electronic music. Taking place over three days at Basel’s Kaserne Areal and kHaus, FOG25 brings together a powerful mix of live concerts, sound art installations, audiovisual performances, DJ sets, and for the first time, educational workshops for children and young people.
This year’s edition focuses on Swiss-based artists, especially those from underrepresented linguistic regions such as Romandie and Ticino, promoting cultural diversity and artistic exchange across language and regional borders. Highlights include the Swiss premiere of Éliane Radigue’s “L’Île Re-sonante” presented by students from ESB Basel, and performances by Maria W Horn, Myriam Bleau, Mark Fell, SHHE, and Julie Semoroz.FOG25 also deepens its curatorial commitment to gender balance (44% of the program features women or non-binary artists) and sustains a strong presence of international voices (45% of participants from outside Switzerland). Alongside the concerts, a large-scale sound art exhibition explores contemporary kinetic and spatial practices, inspired by Basler artist Jean Tinguely. The festival maintains partnerships with institutions like the Basel Academy of Music, Kaserne, Radio X, and Parterre One, fostering a dynamic cultural ecosystem. Radio X will act as an active media partner, broadcasting live performances and producing artist features that extend the festival’s reach beyond its physical locations.FOG is co-directed by Jules Hildebrand and Roberto Maqueda, and remains committed to accessibility, diversity, and experimentation. In 2025, FOG continues its mission to create genre-defying artistic encounters, bridge communities, and transform Basel into a vital node for the future of sound-based art in Europe.
