International Film Festival BellaTOFIFEST
The International Film Festival BellaTOFIFEST is one of the most distinctive and acclaimed celebrations of world cinema, honoring both groundbreaking films, debut movies and the bold personalities behind them. Festival takes place from the 27th of June to the 3rd of July in beautiful Unesco City Torun in Poland. What sets IFF BellaTOFIFEST apart is its uncompromising originality and rebellious spirit—an identity rooted in independence, artistic freedom, and creative courage.BellaTOFIFEST dares to showcase the work of visionary, unconventional filmmakers such as Ulrich Seidl, Werner Herzog, Chris Marker, John Waters, Alain Tanner, Hans Jürgen Syberberg, Alejandro Jodorowsky, and many others. The Festival proudly brings attention to lesser-known yet powerful cinematographies while fearlessly addressing challenging and urgent themes, including the boundaries of artistic freedom. Among the festival guests were: Oleh Sentsov, Agnieszka Holland, Paweł Pawlikowski, Geraldine Chaplin, Emmanuelle Seigner, Jiri Menzel, Małgorzata Szumowska, Jim Sheridan, Ulrich Seidl, Martin Sulik, Wojtek Smarzowski, Julia Jentsch and many others.By boldly combining diverse cinematic voices, styles, and perspectives, BellaTOFIFEST creates an atmosphere of creative tension and excitement. It is this magnetic energy and spirit of artistic rebellion that make BellaTOFIFEST a truly unique and unforgettable film festival.The festival program is curated from submitted films competing in the Best First and Second Feature Competition called ON AIR Competition and the Polish Film Competition.
During the 24th edition three special retrospectives will take place: Retrospective of Lithuanian Cinema organized with Lithuanian Film Centre, Scottish Cinema x4 with cooperation with King's College in Aberdeen - Visual and Film Arts Department, Andrzej Wajda in Focus - retrospective of the most important movies of Polish film master.
