International students folklore festival - Niš
International Students’ Folklore Festival - City of Niš (Serbia) takes placeevery year from 2008, in midst of July, from 16-20th.Organizer and founder of the Festival is Students’ Cultural Center Niš and itsAcademic Folklore Ensemble ORO. Festival is under patronage of Ministry of Education of Republic of Serbia, City of Niš and City Municipalities. From it’s beginning, Festival is organized according to Regulations of CIOFF. Our Festival has been recognized as a CIOFF International Festival, as the highest rang for organizing folk festival, at Congress at Budapest (Hungary) on November 9 th 2021. Our intention is to introduce folklore traditions and diverse national cultures to citizens of Niš and southeast Serbia through Festival, and to present our large cultural heritage as well. Every year, 6-8 students’ ensembles from different countries take part. Maximum number of participants (including orchestra and drivers) is 35 persons. Costs of transportation within Serbia, accommodation and meals are to be submitted by organizer. Accommodation and meals will be provided in the students dormitories in Niš, in two-bed rooms (each room has bathroom), at the expense of the organizer. Transportation costs outside Serbia are to be submitted by participating ensemble.If some group came to Serbia by plane, Organizing Committee will providebus transportation with covered expenses from the airport (Belgrade) to Niš(250 km). Performances of the ensembles will take place in Niš, and surrounding towns(Bela Palanka, Ražanj, Knjaževac, Soko Banja and Vladičin Han), up to 20-30minutes per performance. Opening ceremony and concert in Niš will be on July 16th. Final performance of all participants will take place in Niš on July 20th, onopen air stage in the City Fortress. For the opening concert and final concert, each Ensemble should prepare a performance up to 15 minutes. Also, before opening and final concert, street parade is planned. Ensembles are due to perform with live music (orchestra).
