International Theatre Festival Divadelná Nitra

Reflections on a range of socio-political issues are within the gene pool of the International Festival Divadelná Nitra. They appear in different forms within the Festival programme.

The aim of the programming is to draw attention to these issues, highlight them and thus convey them clearly to the public.

The theme of the International Festival Divadelná Nitra 2024 is a NEW VIEW.

As of 2024, our Festival is leaving its Autumn date to move to the early Summer, a date more friendly to participants. The 2024 edition also brings an updated concept, new venues – simply a new take on the Festival.

We trust that the new date will serve as an impetus for the new shape of the Festival. The atmosphere of early summer, better chance of warm days and nights with light long into the night, all this will create friendly setting for outdoor events, interventions in public space, night shows and concerts, along with events for children and youth that are likely to draw larger numbers of audiences. Since it will be the beginning of the culture summer and tourist season, we trust that the Festival will also attract visitors from other cities.

The new date of the Festival is also reflected in the theme for the 2024 edition: a new view. It expresses the necessity to take a fresh look at ourselves, at the people around us, at events in our country and further afield. A new perspective means reexamining some historical events, as well as your attitudes towards current issues in public and political life. A new perspective means solving issues related to environmental protection and marginalised groups. It also means acquiring the courage and looking at things from the other side.
