Kulturgarten Open Air 2026
The Kulturgarten Open Air 2026 will once again be the highlight of the year in Themar. From 21 to 24 May, we will transform the Rasenmühle into a place where punk rock, community and summer vibes come together. For four days, there will be loud music, high energy and lots of people who want to celebrate together, show their attitude and just have a damn good time. Up to 1,000 guests are expected – not only from all over Germany, but also from neighbouring countries. And in 2026, we will even have a European band with us for the first time, giving the festival a special international flair. The Kulturgarten Open Air is not an anonymous large-scale event, but a festival that comes from the grassroots and is organised by people who are themselves at the heart of the scene. Everything is run on a voluntary basis, everything is full of passion and DIY spirit. Weeks in advance, many helping hands are already busy setting up the stage, preparing the grounds and designing stands. The result is a festival that doesn't feel polished and commercial, but genuine, raw and familiar. That's exactly what creates the special atmosphere: you immediately feel welcome here, whether you're attending for the first time or come every year.Musically, of course, everything revolves around punk rock in its many facets. Political punk, melodic punk rock, hardcore or crossover – there's something for everyone at Open Air 2026. The stage will feature both well-known bands that have been filling clubs for years and young, up-and-coming acts that are bringing a breath of fresh air to the scene. It is particularly important to us that local and regional bands also get their chance. Punk rock is not just about big names, but also about small projects that give their all with passion and energy. This mix ensures that every festival evening is unique and that you can always discover new favourite bands. But Open Air is more than just music. Throughout the weekend, there are workshops, information stands and hands-on activities that show that punk rock is always about attitude. Topics such as anti-fascism, sustainability, inclusion and voluntary work have just as much a place here as mosh pits and loud guitars. The activities are relaxed, open and invite you to join in without anyone feeling lectured. If you feel like it, you can strike up a conversation between concerts, try something new or simply be inspired. The audience is just as diverse as the programme. The Kulturgarten Open Air attracts young people, students, families, old scene veterans and curious people who just want to check it out. This mix creates a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where it's easy to strike up conversations and make new contacts. It's a festival where people not only celebrate, but also experience a sense of community.Another important aspect is sustainability. For years, we have been using reusable cups, regional food offerings and climate-friendly travel options. In 2026, we want to make this even more visible and use creative ideas to show that a festival can be loud and wild without unnecessarily harming the environment. We also want to send a message: cultural events can take responsibility and still be fun.Kulturgarten Open Air 2026 is therefore not just a festival, but a statement. In a region that repeatedly makes headlines with right-wing events, we are sending a clear counter-signal. This is not about exclusion, but about openness. Not about division, but about cohesion. We show that Themar is colourful, loud and lively – and that punk rock is the perfect language for this.In the end, it's more than just a weekend full of music. What remains are memories of wild concerts, encounters that stick with you, and the feeling of being part of something special.
