Les Rencontres chorégraphiques internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis 2027
Created in 2002, the Festival des Rencontres chorégraphiques internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis is a continuation of the Concours de Bagnolet. From the beginning, it asserts a guideline guided by curiosity for the forms and aesthetics of contemporary choreographic creation, defending discoveries and presenting the work of artists often not visible on institutional stages. This commitment to spotting and boldness, combined with roaming on the territory, makes it a meeting recognised by both the choreographic community, international professionals and audiences living in Seine-Saint-Denis.
Since 2021 and the arrival of Frédérique Latu as director of Rencontres, the legacy has continued in a profoundly transformed social and environmental context. In a world where the circulation of artists, ideas and works has become more complex, the Rencontres reaffirm their attention to keeping alive the international dimension of dance, to continue to make voices and gestures heard from elsewhere, and to fight, through creation, against any form of withdrawal. With no fixed location, the Festival des Rencontres chorégraphiques is invented each year through partnerships forged with theatres and public spaces. This itinerancy, which is part of its identity, makes it possible to multiply the points of contact with places of a very different nature and diverse audiences.
The project is also enriched by long-term cultural action work designed in collaboration with the artists welcomed, promoting encounters between artistic teams and local residents. This attention to the diversity of forms and contexts makes the festival a living fabric, where dance is experienced, lived and shared.
