The 2026 edition of the Rainbook Festival once again confirms its role as a landmark event for inclusive literature, with a rich program taking place across Sardinia. Organized by Baa Bà APS, an association committed to defending LGBTQIA+ rights, the festival promotes reading as a tool for dialogue, culture, and social change. 

Through talks, panel discussions, and book presentations, Rainbook continues to create spaces for discussion and exchange, bringing together authors, readers, and activists. This year, the festival will host the third edition of the "Laura Grasso" Literary Award, a recognition dedicated to inclusive storytelling and open to both published and unpublished books. 

The award aims to celebrate stories that portray diversity, challenge stereotypes, and offer new perspectives on contemporary society. Its goal is to recognize authors whose writing contributes to building a more open and representative cultural landscape. 

The award ceremony will be one of the festival's main events, offering participants the opportunity to discover the selected works and meet the winning authors. Rainbook stands out for its international scope. The festival will strengthen its ties with its Twin Festivals, including prestigious European literary and theatre events such as those in Prague and Bratislava, through the staging of an original reading performance. 

These collaborations will help expand the festival's cultural network, fostering new opportunities for exchange among actors, writers, publishers, and readers from different countries. 

Cooperation between these festivals represents a crucial step in promoting stories and narratives that transcend geographical and cultural boundaries.

Another highlight of the 2026 edition is the presence of international guests. Authors, translators, artists, and publishing professionals will share their experiences and reflections on the role of literature in promoting social change. Inclusion will be at the heart of many discussions, with panels exploring how the publishing industry can contribute to a fairer representation of the LGBTQIA+ community. The festival will feature 30 events held in various locations across Sardinia, transforming the island into a major stage dedicated to books and culture. 

The program will include book presentations, themed workshops, author talks, public readings, and activities for children and families. 

An important preview event will take place in Sassari on September 18 and 19. Through this widespread presence, the Rainbook Festival aims to make literature accessible to everyone, bringing it even to smaller towns and engaging an increasingly diverse audience. Among the festival's most distinctive initiatives is the return of the "Literary Forest," an immersive experience that blends nature and storytelling. In this unique setting, participants will enjoy outdoor readings, engage in conversations with writers, and draw inspiration from literary-themed art installations. 

The "Literary Forest" is not only a meeting place between books and nature; it is also an opportunity to reflect on sustainability, ecology, and the relationship between people and the environment. In this context, reading becomes a profound sensory experience, creating connections between words and the surrounding landscape. In addition to its literary events, Rainbook 2026 will also feature performances and art exhibitions. Music, theatre, and visual arts will intertwine with literature, giving life to multidisciplinary events designed to amplify the festival's message of inclusion and openness. 

The combination of different artistic languages will offer new forms of expression and attract a broader audience. Another key aspect of the Rainbook Festival is its focus on new technologies and digital communication.
