Madrid International Comedy Festival 2027
In October 2026, Madrid laughed in eight languages. For four days, from 1 to 4 October, 60 comedians from more than 20 countries took the stage across eight venues in the centre of the city. More than 35 shows in Spanish, English, French, Dutch, Portuguese, Hindi, Italian and Arabic. Small bars, real theatres, full rooms and very late nights. There were workshops in the afternoon, galas at night, and long conversations after the last show that nobody wanted to end. It was only our second year. The first edition, in 2025, sold out all six venues and 2,200 tickets.
This year we grew again, and we did it the same way we started: with comedians who love what they do and an audience that came ready to laugh. But numbers don't tell you what it felt like. It felt like a room where nobody knew each other at nine o'clock, and everyone was friends by eleven. Like a comedian from one country making people from five other countries cry with laughter. Like a joke that works in any language, because the feeling behind it is the same. Like a Spanish crowd discovering an English act, and an English crowd going to its first show in Spanish just to see what happens. That is the soul of comedy for us. It's not about being perfect. It's about being honest. Someone stands under a light with a microphone and tells the truth about their life, their family, their country, their mistakes. And a room full of strangers sees itself in that story. For one hour, everyone is on the same side. Nobody checks your passport, your accent or where you come from. You just laugh, and the person next to you laughs too. Then the show ends, and the best part starts. Comedians meet other comedians. People talk at the bar. Someone who came alone leaves with plans for next week. Artists from Madrid meet artists from all over the world, and new shows, new tours and new friendships come out of it. A festival is not only what happens on stage. It's what happens between people.
Now we are looking at 2027, and we want to go bigger. More shows. More languages. More comedians from more countries. More stages across Madrid, and bigger rooms so more people can get in. More workshops for anyone who wants to learn the craft, and more space for new voices next to the names you already know. We want people to plan a trip to Madrid around the festival, and we want comedians to put it on their calendar the way they do with the big ones. What will not change is the feeling. We will keep it close, warm and a little bit chaotic, in the best way. A festival made by people who love comedy, for people who need a good laugh. And Madrid is the right city for it. A city that stays up late, welcomes everyone and never says no to one more drink and one more story. The third edition is coming in October 2027. Save the date, bring your friends, and come see what happens when the whole world walks into a bar in Madrid.
