18 Jul 2026
Acqui Terme, Italy

Steps of Strength & Milonga Under the Stars 2026 is an international cultural event taking place on 18 July 2026 in the historic center of Acqui Terme, Italy. The project highlights the transformative power of the arts in promoting awareness, empowerment, and social inclusion, with a specific focus on preventing and addressing violence against women. Through dance, music, performance, and expressive fashion, the festival turns personal stories into shared cultural experiences, offering the public a platform to witness resilience and celebrate human dignity. The program consists of two main components:1. Steps of StrengthThis segment features multidisciplinary performances where contemporary dance, theatrical elements, and costume design converge. Artists explore the emotional journey from vulnerability to empowerment, transforming real experiences into artistic expression. Costumes are designed not only for aesthetics but as symbolic statements that reinforce identity, autonomy, and the reclamation of personal narrative. The audience is invited to reflect, connect, and engage with the message, becoming active participants in the discourse rather than passive spectators.2. Milonga Under the StarsAs night falls over Piazza Italia, the space evolves into an open-air dance floor, filled with the music of tango, vals, and milonga. This section fosters community participation, cultural exchange, and intergenerational interaction. The Tango Vals and Milonga Competition, open to both professionals and amateurs, emphasizes accessibility and inclusion, encouraging dancers from diverse backgrounds to join. The event is free for all, creating a welcoming environment where everyone can enjoy the beauty of dance under the stars.
