Musica sulle Bocche International Jazz Festival

22 Aug 2019 - 25 Aug 2019
Castelsardo, Italy

Musica sulle Bocche is a jazz festival born in 2001 on Bocche di Bonifacio, the strait between Sardinia and Corsica and it took place every year in August in Santa Teresa Gallura up to 2018. Since the 2019 edition the festival has moved to Castelsardo, a well-known historic town in northern Sardinia.

Directed by the musician Enzo Favata and organised by the association Jana Project, the festival has presented many international stars from all over the world, and also young talents of jazz and other genres of music. It's one of the major events of the Sardinian summer season, both for the high standard of the artists on stage, as well as the symbiosis between music and environment that made the festival extremely successful from the very outset. The natural scenery of Gallura and the programming of the concerts in unusual hours, such as sunset and sunrise, has created around the festival “Musica sulle Bocche” a powerful allure, bringing a wider and younger audience.

Every edition presents great names of the current jazz scene, of electronic music and improvisation, and the best representatives of traditional music from Sardinia and other countries. The guidelines suggested by the festival are curiosity, openness towards different genres of music and art, without preconceptions. For this reason, besides the essentially musical offer, other artistic languages, photography, digital arts, graphic design and visual arts are always in the program.

The organisation Jana Project is particularly committed in the environmental impact, waste minimisation and sustainability as a whole. During every event and concert, the public is informed and invited to act responsibly towards the environment.
