"Sowing Resistance, Cultivating Utopias" is the driving force behind the 12th edition of Olhares do Mediterrâneo – Women's Film Festival. In 2025, the Festival will expand compared to its past: it will run for 10 days, from October 28th to November 6th, and will be presented in six cinemas and cultural venues in Lisbon: Cinema São Jorge, Cinemateca Portuguesa, Museu do Aljube, Casa do Comum, ISCTE-IUL, and the Goethe-Institut.True to its mission of promoting cinema made by Mediterranean women through films that encourage debate on impactful and sometimes controversial topics, the Festival offers a cinematic program of 63 films (feature and short films) produced by 29 countries. Of these, 12 are Portuguese productions, including the world premiere of the documentary Mulheres, Terra, Revolução (Women, Land, Revolution) by Rita Calvário and Cecília Honório. In total, the Festival presents 41 films never before seen in Portugal – 33 national premieres, four world premieres, three European premieres and one international premiere.
