RE RIGA! 2025
RE RIGA! is an international contemporary circus and street art festival taking place annually in August since 2013. In year 2014 RE RIGA! was included in the official programme of Riga—the European Capital of Culture. Since the beginning, the festival has positioned itself as an international meeting point for circus professionals and circus lovers offering to the audience the diversity of the circus and street arts. It is one of the most important contemporary circus festivals in the Baltics.
For over 12 years, Re Rīga! has introduced Latvian audiences to high-quality and innovative contemporary circus and street performances from Europe and beyond. The festival has welcomed circus companies as La Meute (FR), Bram Graafland (NL), Circo EIA (ES), Animal Religion (ES), Cie Defracto (FR), Svalbard (SE), Kalle Nio (FI), Galapiat Cirque (FR), Ricochet (USA), Tripotes la Compagnie (BE), Marina Cherry (SE, BE), Be Flat (BE), Los Galindos (ES), Kapsel (SE), Cie Monad (FR) and many others.
RE RIGA! and Rīgas cirks are members of the international networks: Baltic-Nordic Circus Network, Baltic Circus Grassroot Network, Circostrada, Circusnext, Fedec. The festival has made partnerships with Arts Printing House (Lithuania), Circusinfo Finland, other festivals as Miramiro (Belgium), Theater op de Markt (Belgium), Subcase Art Fair (Sweden), Fira Tarrega (Spain), New Circus Weekend (Lithuania), and Epicirq (Estonia).
In 2025 the festival invites you—nurture the animal in you! We know that humans are fragile and, at the same time, incredibly strong. Humans are among the rare animals that possess a sense of humor and self-irony. That’s why this year’s festival programme and theme explore the animalistic side of humans—the animal within us that we can tame, care for, love, and soothe. Humans are a part of nature and are subject to the same rules as all other living beings. Yet, we aspire to be the ones who can control our instincts, even when it's difficult.
This year’s edition offers a wide-ranging programme—shows at Rīgas Cirks a free outdoor programme in Vērmanes Garden, masterclasses for professionals and performing arts students, circus workshops, and family-friendly events.
The programme will include the following artists and companies: Federico Menini (Spain), Roman Škadra (Germany), Circ Rodini (Belgium), If Circus (Catalonia/Netherlands), Cie One Shot (Belgium), Lelde Feldmane (Latvia), Maija Sukute (Latvia) and others.
