REDRIVER festival
REDRIVER is a multi-cultural festival on the borders of Europe, an institution for Thrace since 2008 and held in the historic Didymoteicho of the Evros Prefecture, just 2 km. from the borders of Greece and Turkey. It has been distinguished nationally for 2 years at the Tourism Awards [under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Hellenic Tourism Organization (EOT), the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE) and the support of the Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" while the Evros Chamber of Commerce also awarded a distinction].The organization usually lasts 3 months, from late August to late November, the original idea was to carry out alternative tourism actions and events in combination with the beautiful surrounding area, next to the river, the castle, the monuments, the forest and with an extension to the provincial area with its natural beauty. The Greek region where the festival is held borders Turkey but is also a few minutes away from Bulgaria and thus maintains intercultural and cross-border relations. The REDRIVER institution constitutes a brand of the region with complex forms of tourism and culture. A key feature of the festival is that it draws the ideas of the actions from the multiculturalism of the city of Didymoteicho. The events take place in more and more monuments every year and similar events are organized with spectacle, music, dance, arts, gastronomy, sports, etc.
