Reykjavík Early Music Festival 2026

31 Mar 2026 - 02 Apr 2026
Reykjavík , Iceland

In 2026, the Reykjavík Early Music Festival bridges musical worlds—from Icelandic, Danish, Swedish, Polish, and Italian folk heritage to repertoire spanning the 15th century through Mendelssohn and Schumann. We offer six evening concerts in Norðurljós Hall of Harpa featuring Icelandic ensembles as well as groups from France, Denmark, and Poland. Highlights include performances by Icelandic ensembles such as Barokkbándið Brák and Cantoque Ensemble, alongside renowned international artists like Christina Pluhar and her ensemble L’Arpeggiata. Each day offers free, informal 20-minute concerts in Harpa’s foyer, alongside pop-up performances in nearby cafés, encouraging spontaneous artist–audience exchange. Our Children’s Programme includes a pre-concert with 100 local schoolchildren in Eldborg Hall, and Dúó Stemma presents a playful, interactive baroque-for-kids show featuring unusual instruments made from horsehair and stones, storytelling, and songs.Continuing our educational vision, we offer Iceland’s first open historical flute masterclass with Darina Ablogina, in collaboration with the Iceland University of the Arts and the Reykjavík College of Music.
