Rosorcas Unplugged 2027

21 May 2027 - 23 May 2027
Castlerea, Ireland

Rosorcas Festival of Circus Arts returns to Motion Chapel in Granlahan, County Roscommon, for a weekend packed with new performances, workshops, open training and creative exchange.

Presented by Motion Chapel in collaboration with Cikada Circus, it brings Irish and international artists, circus enthusiasts and local audiences together in the grounds of a former monastery in the west of Ireland.

This edition will feature lots of new work, from fresh creations to works in progress offering a glimpse into the creative process. Expect physical skill, humour, experimentation and unexpected encounters, with opportunities to meet the artists and talk about the work you have seen.

There will be tonnes of workshops, too. Ground-based circus arts remain at the heart of the programme, with visiting artists sharing skills, techniques and creative approaches. Alongside organised sessions, there will be plenty of room for independent practice, spontaneous skill exchanges and training with friends old and new.

The festival site is designed for people to settle in and spend the weekend together. Camping is available on the grounds, with an outdoor kitchen and shower supporting life on site. Bring your tent, your training gear and your curiosity, and move between shows, workshops and shared meals without leaving the festival. There's also a sauna and cold dip available in the evenings.

The old chapel serves as a 24/7 convention space: somewhere to train, juggle, experiment and exchange skills throughout the weekend. Two geodesic domes host shows and workshops, while the outdoor tree stage brings performances into the gardens. Together, these spaces create an intimate festival where the next show, training session or conversation is always close by.

Rosorcas welcomes professional artists looking for inspiration and connection, enthusiasts keen to develop their practice, and newcomers curious about contemporary circus. You can fill your day with workshops, spend hours training, discover new performances or take your time enjoying the atmosphere.

Supporting artists is central to the festival. Presenting developing work gives performers space to test ideas, receive feedback and build relationships with audiences and fellow artists. For audiences, it is a chance to encounter something at an early stage and become part of the conversation around its development.

Rooted in rural Roscommon and connected to the wider circus community, Rosorcas combines an ambitious artistic programme with the warmth of a shared gathering. Come for the shows, stay for the workshops, and make a weekend of circus, camping and good company.

Full programme, artist announcements and practical information will be shared as the festival approaches.
