SOTTOSUOLO
Icarus vs Muzak festival traces a coherent path through territory, technology, and sonic experimentation. Site-specific projects and original commissions coexist with moments of intercultural exchange and traditional practices reimagined in a contemporary way, offering audiences artistic experiences deeply rooted in the places and people that host them.Within this vision, Sottosuolo was created from the desire to bring to light a kind of music that often remains hidden — contemporary, experimental, and outside traditional circuits. The idea is to reveal it in alternative, accessible spaces, engaging those who may not know it at all. Through sounds created with recycled instruments, original percussion, and live electronics, Sotto Suolo aims to break conventions and offer unexpected sonic experiences. It is an invitation to listen with curiosity and to let yourself be surprised. After its successful first edition in 2025, Sottosuolo Festival returns with a week-long residency bringing together artists in collaboration. The new edition will involve experienced composers, video artists, and sound designers. Participants will share and develop their works through mentoring, workshops, and collaborative sessions, encouraging the cross-pollination of languages and the emergence of new ideas. The partnership with the Chiostri della Ghiara becomes both the operational and symbolic core of the project: an evocative setting in the heart of the historic center where artistic research and production intersect, generating outcomes to be shared with the local community. We believe deeply in a new way of making music — relational, interactive, and open to everyone. An inclusive model designed by young people for young people, bringing artists, technologies, spaces, and communities into dialogue.
