The Festival for DIY Music
The 2026/2027 Festival for DIY Music will be different - smaller and more exploratory. This year, we’re looking for new ways and possibilities to shape the festival’s future: with even more participatory ideas, where we develop projects with artists and visitors over longer periods of time; with new collaborations, new participants, and perhaps even entirely different dates and venues, and so on. That’s why this year we’re conducting research at various locations using different formats. The results of this exploratory journey will ultimately inform our planning for 2027.
DATES (2026)
- September 13 //Centre for Art and Urbanism // DIY market with many workshop booths and a few concerts
- October 10 // Haus der Statistik // Installations on the 10th floor and a rooftop concert in the newly completed building
- November // Berlin Museum of Natural History // Experimenting with bird calls and signals. THEMES Each venue also features a focal theme and an artist with a research assignment: Max Andrzejewski at the ZK/U (focus: bicycles), Pilocka Krach at the Haus der Statistik (focus: city sounds), and LIEEK at the Museum für Naturkunde (focus: bird calls and signals).
WORKBOOK
This year’s festival ticket will also become part of the research: a workbook containing materials and tasks - somewhere between a survey and an SGM scrapbook- that will serve as the basis for a future festival catalogue.
