Titirimundi 2027

10 May 2027 - 18 May 2027
Segovia, Spain

Titirimundi International Puppet Theatre Festival is one of Spain’s leading festivals dedicated to puppetry and object theatre and a major international meeting point for artists, professionals and audiences. Founded in Segovia in 1985, the festival has grown over four decades while maintaining a strong identity rooted in artistic quality, international exchange and a close relationship with the city and its inhabitants.

Every May, Titirimundi transforms Segovia into a large stage. The festival takes place not only in theatres and cultural venues, but also in streets, squares, historic courtyards, gardens and other unusual spaces throughout the city. This interaction between performing arts, public space and Segovia’s exceptional architectural heritage is one of the festival’s defining characteristics. For several days, puppetry becomes part of everyday life, bringing together local residents, visitors, artists and professionals in a shared cultural experience.

The programme brings together companies and artists from Spain and many other countries, presenting a broad and diverse vision of contemporary puppetry and object theatre. Titirimundi embraces both traditional forms and new artistic languages, from popular and historical puppet traditions to experimental work, visual theatre, object theatre and interdisciplinary contemporary creation. The festival seeks to showcase the richness of an art form that is constantly evolving while preserving and celebrating its cultural heritage.

Titirimundi is conceived as a festival for diverse audiences. Its programme includes performances for adults, young people, children and families, with both indoor and outdoor shows. Alongside the artistic programme, the festival develops workshops, exhibitions, educational projects, professional encounters and activities that encourage participation, learning and exchange. Education and access to culture are an essential part of Titirimundi’s work. Through school programmes and projects such as Titiricole, the festival introduces children and young people to puppetry and the performing arts, encouraging creativity and direct contact with artists and artistic processes. Training activities and workshops also create opportunities for artists, students and professionals to explore techniques, exchange knowledge and develop new approaches to puppetry and object theatre.

Although Segovia is the heart of Titirimundi, the festival extends far beyond the city. Each edition reaches numerous towns and villages across the province of Segovia, bringing professional performing arts to rural communities and places where access to international cultural programming is more limited. Titirimundi also collaborates with theatres, festivals and cultural institutions in other parts of Spain, helping international companies presented at the festival to reach new audiences and strengthening networks for the circulation of performing arts.

After more than forty years, Titirimundi continues to be a place of discovery, encounter and celebration: a festival where tradition and experimentation coexist, where artists from different cultures and generations meet, and where the boundaries between stage and city become blurred. Its aim remains the same: to offer audiences outstanding artistic experiences, support the development and visibility of puppetry and object theatre, foster international cultural exchange and keep alive the unique relationship between the festival, its artists, its audiences and the city of Segovia.
