Transumare fest

Transumare Fest is a four-day music festival on the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo, staged on the seafront of Roseto degli Abruzzi (Teramo, Italy). The fourth edition takes place from 18 to 21 August 2027. 

The name comes from transumanza, the seasonal movement of shepherds and herds that shaped inland Abruzzo, fused with mare, the sea that defines Roseto, and the Latin prefix trans-, the idea of going beyond. Transumare means looking for the mobile roots of things: not leaving the origin behind, but finding it again somewhere else. That idea shapes the programming, which moves across genres instead of settling into one. 

Each edition places Italian artists alongside international names, and electronic music and club culture alongside pop, rock, rap and songwriting. Past editions have hosted Cosmo, Omar Souleyman, DVS1, Giorgio Poi, The Egyptian Lover, Soichi Terada, Paranoid London, Marco Castello, MACE, C.A.R., Tutti Fenomeni, Dov'è Liana, Selton, okgiorgio, Dutch Nazari, Deki Alem, faccianuvola and Gabbs b2b Nicky Macha. The 2027 line-up is announced in stages from the spring. 

The opening day is free, on a pay-what-you-can basis, and accounts for roughly a third of the festival's total attendance. It is the clearest expression of a principle the festival works on every year: culture of this quality should not depend on the price of a ticket. Children under 10 enter free on all days. Accessibility is handled as part of the programme, not as an afterthought. Visitors with a Disability Card or equivalent certification receive a reduced ticket, and a free companion ticket is available where attendance requires one; a dedicated form lets people tell the organisation what they need in advance, so that services and support are in place on site. 

Sustainability runs through the operation: digital tickets, reusable cups, waste and mobility measures, Plastic Free certification, and workshops open to the audience. 

Around the music, Vivi Transumare offers experiences that take the audience out of the festival site and into the region: a trek to the Rocca Calascio fortress in the Gran Sasso mountains, yoga, qi gong and mindfulness sessions on the beach, a morning running club, sound-based workshops, wine, food and olive-oil tastings at local producers.

In 2026, the whole programme sold out. Roseto degli Abruzzi is a small seaside town of 25,000 inhabitants between the Gran Sasso massif and the Adriatic, two hours from Rome and reachable by train on the Milan–Bari line. Between 30% and 40% of the audience travels from outside the region, and the festival works with local accommodation, campsites and transport to make a four-day stay possible. 

Transumare Fest is produced by APS Rosangeles, a non-profit association of social promotion based in Roseto degli Abruzzi, active in the third sector and dedicated to cultural projects, mainly in music and live events. The festival is built by a collective rooted in Abruzzo, with the stated aim of developing ambitious cultural projects for its own community rather than importing a format from elsewhere. 

Media partners include Crack Magazine and Mixmag (UK), Rockon, Teleclub and Etimologia Magazine (Italy). Since its first edition in 2024 the festival has grown quickly: the 2026 edition brought 24 artists over four days and more than 14,000 admissions, making it one of the reference points for contemporary music on the central Adriatic. Its audience is young, largely Italian and increasingly international.
