Vaasa Wildlife Festival 2024

The Vaasa Wildlife International nature Film Festival is held in the city of Vaasa, on the west coast of Finland. Every second year the festival organises a film competition.

During the last 22 years that it has been running, the festival has grown in popularity and received commendation from participants, delegates, media, educational organisations, and the public worldwide. For many years, the festival was the only festival of its kind in Scandinavia. In recent times, in 2022, the festival celebrated its 20 years, receiving 1203 film applications from 98 countries.

From those, 375 films from 71 countries were selected to the competition, 171 films from 71 countries made it to its final stage and 40 films won the awards.

Successful previous editions and fruitful networking on local, national and global level, have nowadays ensured the festival’s popularity worldwide.

As this year is a competition year too, the festival called in January for entries and in 10 days we received 727 entries from 78 countries and from those, we have now selected 200 films from 59 countries to participate. The festival dates in 2024 are set from 25 to 29 September.
