XY Budapest 2026

The project XY – Exhibitions with a Walk / A Walk through Openings was established in 2015 as a joint initiative of Olomouc curators and galleries. It offers exhibition and residency opportunities to artists from a selected artistic environment, all opening on a unified date. The event takes the form of a series of interconnected contemporary art openings, complemented by performances and concerts, joined together by a collective walk. The individual exhibitions then continue for varying durations depending on each gallery’s program.The event functions as a large-scale showcase of contemporary art held across most independent galleries in Olomouc. After the “XY Walk,” each exhibition usually runs for several weeks up to three months. Within the Central Moravian context, the showcase is unique in its scope and focus — its ability to explore and present the most current artistic trends and scenes to a broad audience.Following previous editions in Brno, Ostrava, Ústí nad Labem, Bratislava, Zlín, Opava, Plzeň, Vienna, Wrocław and Berlin, the 2026 edition of the XY Walk will introduce the Budapest art scene to Olomouc.
