Zoom festival

The Zoom Festival has been taking place since 2010 and has so far primarily focused on the work of specific authors, artistic scenes, or artistic practices. Over the years, the festival has presented the work of two artists from the Rijeka region who have developed significant international careers, Janez Janša (formerly Emil Hrvatin) and Ivana Müller, as well as the German-speaking artistic scene in two editions. It has also explored various artistic practices, such as platform-based collaborations and community-engaged work.In 2017, the festival presented the live art scene of London’s Soho; in 2018, it focused on the topic of immaterial labor. Since 2019, Zoom has moved away from a strictly thematic approach, instead presenting works that are aesthetically and ethically compelling, belong to the field of contemporary performance, and address pressing social issues.The 2021 edition focused on emerging artistic perspectives, while the 2022 and 2023 programs addressed major topics such as the climate crisis, humanitarian devastation, migration, technological progress, and the society of spectacle. In 2024, organized in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Croatia under the subtitle Past Present, the program centered on new dramatic texts and theatre works from the Balkan region. The 2025 edition was developed in partnership with the Igralke collective, with whom the collaboration will continue into the following year.
