28th Prague German Language Theatre Festival

04 Nov 2023 - 03 Dec 2023

This year the festival will take place from 4 November to 3 December and will present a selection of distinctive German-language productions from the repertoire of the Berliner Ensemble, Schaubühne Berlin, Thalia Theater Hamburg, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Volkstheater Wien and Escher Theater Luxembourg. The performances will be presented with Czech subtitles. The Czech winning production of the festival's Josef Balvin Award will be part of the show. The amateur ensemble Žumpa Nučice will commemorate the significant jubilee of the festival's founder Pavel Kohout. The Berliner Ensemble's performance Outside the Door/Draußen vor der Tür will be dedicated to its long-time partner, the Czech-German Future Fund, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. There will also be an off-programme with a workshop with German scenographer Nina Wetzel, an exhibition of her scenographic work and a professional conference.
