29th Flora Theatre Festival
Flora Theatre Festival is
• a traditional festival with a strong response from audiences as well as media, combining the presentation of Central European drama productions with the latest achievements in the field of contemporary dance and performance art (with an emphasis on productions of the German-language theatre scene)
• one of the most significant cultural events in the Czech Republic, mapping trends in contemporary theatre and reflecting current artistic and social phenomena within the annual motto
• a multi-genre showcase thematically complemented by a rich accompanying programme (concerts, discussions, workshops, installations, screenings, etc.)
• a project which manages to closely connect spectators (including dozens of Czech and Slovak university students participating in the FloraLab educational programme) with renowned European theatre makers and performers through discussions, presentations, seminars and workshops
• an international platform original in its dramaturgical structure; a place for interdisciplinary encounters with a unique community feel
The motto for 27th Flora (2024) and 28th Flora (2025) was Freedom and Equality, respectively. In 2026, the dramaturgy of the 29th festival will be defined by the follow-up leitmotif SOLIDARITY.
The 29th Flora Theatre Festival will offer over twenty theater productions in its main program, roughly half of which will be foreign. In total, the festival will invite approximately seven thousand spectators to more than fifty events.
